varagu rice pongal |
Ingredients
Varagu rice - 1 cup
Moong dal - 1/2 cup
Water - 4 cups
Pepper -1/2 Spoon crushed
Jeera - 1/2 spoon
Curry leaves - Little
Ginger -1/2 chopped
Ghee -2 Spoon
Cashew nuts - As needed
Salt - To taste
Cooking method
Roast moong dal lightly in a cooker without ghee and add rice.
Add water, salt and mix it.
Pressure cook for 4 whistles and switch off the stove.
After 10 minutes open the cooker and mash it well.
Heat a small pan and heat ghee , add curry leaves, pepper , jeera, ginger and add it to the pongal.
Heat ghee and roast cashewnuts and transfer it to pongal and mix well.
Before serving add little ghee and serve with coconut chutney and sambar.
